When you are pregnant, it is important to drink as much water as possible. But when you are pregnant with twins, it is essential that you drink a ton of water every day for your health and the babies.
I swear that drinking a gallon of water every day contributed to a healthy pregnancy and making it to 36 weeks with twins.
When my daughter’s amniotic fluid got low, I believe that my water intake helped bring it back. I could be wrong but who knows?
But what I do know is that the water can’t hurt and will definitely help in many aspects of your pregnancy.
Goal: Drink One Gallon of Water Every Day
My goal was to drink 1 gallon of water a day when I was pregnant with twins. I drank 8 ounces (1 cup) every half hour for eight hours. For me, 8 ounces was easy to drink in 30 minutes vs. a pint or more at once.
Plus I had water at my bedside when I woke up in the morning and when I went to bed at night.
If you could set a goal for yourself to have at least one gallon of water a day (128 oz) or 16 cups, I believe it will benefit your twin pregnancy. Dehydration can also lead to contractions and early labor, muscle cramps, headaches, and more.
Also, did you know that amniotic fluid is made from the baby’s urine? So my thinking was, that the more water I drank, the more water they would take in and perhaps keep their fluid levels healthy.
Again, everyone is different and there are many factors that affect all pregnancies but I thought this was an important tip to share. The only downside of drinking so much water is having to pee a lot!
But you’re pregnant with twins soooo…you will have to pee a lot regardless. Good luck! If you're looking for more tips for twin pregnancy, join my Twinsanity Life Facebook group.
