Potty training twins can be a challenging task, but with some patience and a consistent approach, it can be done successfully. Here are some steps to consider.
Timing
Decide on the best time to start potty training based on your twins’ readiness cues. Signs of readiness may include showing interest in using the potty, staying dry for a few hours, or telling you when they need to go. It’s also important to consider your own schedule and availability to dedicate time to the process.
Equipment
Purchase or borrow TWO potties, preferably identical ones, and other essential items such as training pants or underwear, wipes, and a step stool. This is one of my favorites because it's simple and easy to clean! Plus, it doesn't take up too much space.
I also advise you to use washable waterproof mattress pads to save your sanity! Place these beneath the child but above the sheet to catch any leakage from accidents while potty training twins. Game changer!!
Demonstrate
Show your twins how to use the potty. Let them watch you or a sibling use the potty, explain what’s happening, and encourage them to try it too. You can also use books, videos, or dolls to help illustrate the process. I recommend this book if you've been wanting one!
Encourage
Encourage your twins to use the potty regularly, especially after meals or naps. Give them positive feedback when they succeed and avoid punishing or shaming them for accidents. Don't forget mattress protectors! One trick is to layer them, maybe 2 or 3 per crib mattress. This makes changing the sheets easier, especially in the middle of the night. You can put a sheet over a mattress protector and then repeat.
Consistency
Be consistent with the routine and expectations. Use the same words and phrases when talking about using the potty, create a schedule or routine, and make sure everyone involved (caregivers, grandparents, etc.) follows the same plan.

Teamwork
Enlist the help of your partner, family, or friends to assist with the process. Having two children potty training at the same time can be overwhelming, but having another person to help can make a big difference.

Patience
Be patient and understanding throughout the process. Potty training takes time, and each child may progress at a different pace. Celebrate every small success and try not to get discouraged by setbacks.
Keep it light
Do not pressure your twins to use the toilet. This will actually have the opposite effect and lead to a longer and more stressful potty-training process. Try to let them go at their own pace. Trust me! Every child is different. Don't let what you "think" is normal or appropriate, or societal pressures make you feel bad about whether or not your child is training fast enough. My twins were not totally trained until after 3 years old!

Rewards
Use a reward system such as offering a small treat or sticker every time they use the potty. There are also lots of potty-training reward systems and charts to choose from! This one is a best seller and super cute! There are also more feminine options as well.
Positive Reinforcement
Get super excited when your twins use the potty. Use words of affirmation such as “good job” and “you did it”. Give a hug or a high five and excitedly clap hands. Instead of focusing on negative behavior when they don’t use the potty, emphasize your positive attention when they do!
Remember that every child is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Be flexible and adjust your approach as needed. With a positive attitude, consistency, and patience, your twins will be potty trained in no time.
